Those left behind,
Were both young and old,
The things left behind,
Were their stories still untold.

Some are buried soldiers,
Others they couldn’t find,
Most are normal people,
In the land war left behind.

Those that made it through,
See the images burned in their minds,
All the death and sorrow,
Makes them question all mankind.

Those left back in the land,
Are silent as the grave,
Not recognized for what they did,
Or how they’d been so brave.

People only see the numbers,
When looking back on war,
They never saw the tragedy,
They never saw the gore.

Once the results are out,
The news turns to something else,
Leaving behind the ruined homes,
And the country that now needs help.

No one will help the natives,
The world is so unkind,
They’ll have to rebuild their lives,
In the land that’s left behind.

Once the war departs,
And abandons those it’s entwined,
Take a step back and see,
All that war has left behind.

This is a poem that I wrote last semester for this war portfolio thingy in AP English where we had to take a stance on war and support it. I had kinda forgotten to put this poem up because I got really upset during the presentation so yeah... ( lol really bad stage fright still) Hope y'all like it!!

Disclaimer: The image does NOT belong to me. It's only purpose is to help show the stance I took in the poem.
